About
Hi, I’m Stephen, a traditional woodworker with a deep respect for history, hand tools, and the kind of craftsmanship that doesn’t cut corners.
I specialize in making and restoring 18th-century-style moulding planes using time-honored techniques and high-quality materials. These tools aren’t just functional, they’re a direct connection to a time when care, precision, and patience shaped every piece of work.
Before I started making planes, I taught hand tool woodworking at The Woodwright’s School in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Sharing the craft with others and working alongside students deepened my appreciation for hand tool techniques and sharpened my own skills in the process. That experience still shapes the way I approach my work today: with clarity, intention, and respect for the tools and traditions that came before us.
This isn’t mass production. Every plane I make or restore is purpose-built to work hard and last for generations. The kind of tool that feels right in your hand and earns its place on your bench.
If you're looking to build mouldings the traditional way, need a new iron for a vintage plane, or just want to talk shop, feel free to reach out. I’m glad you’re here.
